It has come to our notice that more and more people are receiving our information from the website alone, and thus forgoing the small cost of subscribing to Share International magazine.
Not everyone can, or does, use the internet, and it is essential to have an outer, physical expression, which can display with photographs, the events of which we speak. That means there has to be a magazine, which of course requires a lot of work from volunteers, and a lot of money to produce. There may be a notion that Hierarchy dishes out money for this work, but it is not the case. Subscriptions to Share International are an essential part of maintaining our work and reaching the public. The cost of the subscription is kept as low as possible, the magazine is not subsidised by advertisements and printing and postal charges are mounting all the time.
Surely we would all agree that all those who seriously believe in this work would want to support the magazine, whether or not they read the information on the internet.
Thank you for your support.
Since the inception of Share International magazine, Benjamin Creme’s Master has provided articles to be published not only at the time they were written, but also whenever appropriate according to world circumstances. Indeed, many of these articles seem more relevant now than when they were first published.
by the Master —, through Benjamin Creme
There will come a time when humanity will look back on this time as the ‘barbarian age’. So far from the possible ideal is the present dying civilization that future men will wonder how, and for so long, were we able to sustain it.
There are many causes and factors involved in this sad situation: the long, slow, decline in man’s relation to man runs parallel to, and reflects, the growing sophistication of his weaponry. His present, triumphant ability to kill from places continents apart sets the seal on his progress to self-destruction. War has been made clinical and impersonal: no longer need the warrior witness the look of terror on his victim’s face.
In this situation, it is small wonder that man’s institutions, political and economic, reflect, in their turn, this growing alienation of men from the wellsprings of their lives. Commercialization, that burgeoning but stealthy and often hidden menace, controls now the lives and destiny of countless millions, and reduces to a cypher the God-given individuality of man. People are now statistics without purpose or needs, pawns on the chessboard of market forces and company profits.
The arid desert which we call the modern world leaves men bereft of that which makes them human: happy, creatively fulfilled, quick to respond to each other’s needs, and free. Deadly competition corrodes the human spirit and now sits in judgement on the ‘battle’ of life. Life, the Great Adventure, has been corrupted and replaced by an agonizing and unfair struggle for mere survival.
To be sure, these dire conditions are not everywhere and uniformly present but for vast numbers they represent the reality of their lives, and, unless men change direction, they can only worsen.
When Maitreya enters, openly, the world arena, He will show men that such a life of pain and struggle is not inevitable, is not their only option; that another way is theirs by right if it is their will.
He will show that already, amid the chaos and mounting greed, men are reacting against such weakening of the sacred ties of life; that great new forces are generating a new beginning, and that out of the present turmoil is gradually emerging a higher, truer demonstration of the inborn capacity of man to meet the challenges of his time and to overcome his difficulties.
Maitreya will remind men of their own high origin and destiny, and will inspire the creation of a new way of living: in harmony, in right relationship, without recourse to war or competition, in the fullest co-operation and mutual respect. Thus will it be.
(A Master Speaks, April 1999)
[This article from Share International magazine, March 2017, is by a senior member of the Hierarchy of Masters of Wisdom. His name, well-known in esoteric circles, is not yet being revealed. Benjamin Creme, a principal spokesman about the emergence of Maitreya, was in constant telepathic contact with this Master who dictated his article to him.]
As Benjamin Creme worked with his Master informing the public about Maitreya’s imminent return he was asked innumerable questions covering a vast range of topics. We are now drawing on this large recorded resource; answers provided here were given by BC and His Master over the years and have not previously been published in Share International.
Q. How can we get rid of negative tendencies or repressed emotions from the past?
A. By re-aligning our identification. The more we identify with the Self rather than with the vehicles of the Self – the physical, astral and mental bodies – the more we rid ourselves of negative tendencies. Negative tendencies are the result of wrong identification. We identify with that which we feel, and mostly we feel negative. We feel hurt, we feel nasty, we feel cruel, we feel angry, and we think all of that is real. We take it for granted that it is real. It is not real. These are only feelings that pass through us. You didn’t feel it yesterday. You may not feel it tomorrow. So what is real about it? If it doesn’t last, it’s not real. It is transitory.
If you identify with that feeling, you make it last. You build it into your system – for example, the negative tendency to self-pity, which is widespread in the world. Self-pity is a very negative experience. It goes on all the time and everything is related back to the individual. That creates the condition of negativity. If you identify with it, you simply strengthen it. Instead, you feel it and say, “That’s not me.” Who is experiencing it? Find out who is experiencing it. That is the important thing – not what you are experiencing, but who is doing the experiencing. You are the vital one.
You as the Self behind the experience is the vital one to come into contact with. Not “Why am I always put down?”, “Why am I feeling so sorry for myself?”, “Why do I have all these negative feelings?”, “Why does nobody like me?”, “Why am I not successful?”, “Why am I not the Prince of Wales or the President of the United States?” Everyone feels sorry for themselves at some point, and these are all unreal feelings. You are a god, a great divine being with all the wisdom, power and love of God potentially. It is potentially in your makeup. But it has to demonstrate.
The only thing that prevents it from demonstrating are these negative feelings of inadequacy, self-pity, greed, selfishness. The big sin, the number one, crass kind of heresy, is the sense of separation. That is the major heresy. Get rid of the sense of separation and you get rid of all these negative tendencies. They result from the sense of being separate and that everyone else is out to get you, to do you down. Of course we repress these feelings because they are painful. That is why we repress them. Allow them to come to the surface. Look at them and say, “Is that me? Of course it’s not me.” You distance yourself from them and they die from lack of nourishment.
The more you focus on your negative feelings, the more nourishment you are giving them. You are pouring energy into them. Whatever you pour energy into is nourished. If you distance yourself, you don’t give them any nourishment. You say, “That’s not me. That’s not me.” Then there is a distance created between the feelings and you, and gradually they wither and die because you deny them any further nourishment. That is the way to do it, without repression. Repression doesn’t do any good but neither does self-indulgence.
Most people either repress their emotions or indulge them. Psychologists teach “Let it all out! Be angry! Come kick the door!” It’s ridiculous. It’s stupid. The thing is not to deny the emotions, but just to look at them without trying to get rid of them, without putting them down, without thinking, “I shouldn’t feel this. This is wrong. This is nasty.” Simply look at them. If you just look at them without condemning them, but without indulging them either, you don’t give them any energy. You just look at them, and if you look at them in the right way without denial, without repression, they die. You weaken their hold on you. The more you do this, the weaker and weaker the connection with that negativity becomes. Then you are free. It is the only kind of freedom that you have.
Q. Does Maitreya come to change the world or make it a better place?
A. No. That is our job. Maitreya does not come to make the world a better place. We have to do it. Maitreya and the Masters will help us to do it if we do the right things. If we fulfil the Law. If we give up our old Piscean past to which we are holding on, to our investments, to our commercialization, to our relative power and our little bit of superiority as developed nations. We are holding on to all of that at the expense of the human suffering that is occurring throughout the world. At any time in the last 34 years we could have brought Maitreya forward into the everyday world and had Him announce His Presence Himself.
All we had to do was take the first steps into what is really our divinity. When I say the first steps into our divinity it seems tremendous. How do we do that? It seems a huge thing to ask. Not at all. It is simple. All we have to do is to take the first steps into truth, into right relationship. All we have to do is to see humanity as one, one group. Brothers and sisters of one large group called humanity – whatever the differences in colour, religion and tradition and so on, these are only surface things. The fundamental truth is the oneness of humanity. The first step, Maitreya has said, the first step into sharing is the first step into your divinity. He says: “When you share you recognize God in your brother.” Sharing is divine. Justice is divine. Create sharing and justice in the world and you are in your divinity.
Q. Is Maitreya the spirit of each human being?
A. That is really what He is. Maitreya, being the Christ, the World Teacher, embodying the energy of Love as He does, is able to be the core of love in the heart of every single human being. When He says, “I am with you and in you”, this is literally true. “I seek to express that which I am through you. For this I come.” That is why we need Maitreya. We need the presence of Maitreya; we need the presence of the Christ Principle, which He is, to show us to live in such a way that the Plan of evolution in the mind of the Logos of our planet works out in the correct way.
Share International has a very large reserve of ‘Letters to the Editor’, which were reviewed by Benjamin Creme but not published. We will now be able to print these letters, some of which were received years ago while others are quite recent. All experiences described in the letters were confirmed by BC’s Master to be genuine.
In early 2014, I was travelling home across London. It was late in the evening, and I was feeling tired and rather sorry for myself after a long day at work. The train was diverted for some reason and I had to change stations, prolonging the journey. Going down the stairs to the platform at this second station, I noticed an elderly man, perhaps in his 80s, walking very slowly. He was black and dressed in ordinary clothes and a cap. He was being helped by a taller, younger man, maybe in his 60s, who held his arm. People could have gone past them to reach the platform faster, but that somehow felt disrespectful, and several of us walked very slowly behind the two men. It took a long time because of the slow pace.
On the platform we waited for the train and I felt I wanted to stay near the two men rather than walk to the front of the train as I would normally do. When the doors opened I took the other arm of the older man to help him into the carriage. He said “God bless you”. I sat down and found myself feeling incredibly moved. It seemed such an effort, and I wondered what they were doing making that journey late on a weekday evening. It reminded me of my own father who at that time was walking at a very slow pace and with help. It certainly put my feeling of tiredness into perspective. They got off the train on the other side of London, the same stop as me, and again made their way very slowly out of the station.
T.C., London, UK.
(Benjamin Creme’s Master confirmed that the elderly man was the Master Jesus.)
I was laid off from my job as a contractor from a local telecom company, 10 days after 9/11. By the time November came around I was keeping busy as not to get in a slump. I volunteered at a local church soup kitchen to serve a small group of their parishioners. A man in his 30s, I’ll call “John” volunteered in the food preparation and table set-up.
We served 35 people. When all were seated John left shortly and returned. While all still eating John went around and handed out a $10 bill to everyone. I was so taken with his kindness, I told him that he would surely receive special blessings from his philanthropy.
As we were starting our clean-up, two more men came in. One was tall and casually dressed, and the other was a short eclectically dressed man with an odd gait. I helped serve both their food and drink, then both were seated. As I resumed clean-up the short man approached me and said: “I heard someone here is handing out money.” I apologized that John had handed out all his funds and that no monies were left.
There was something about those last two gentlemen that just seemed out of place to me. As I thought about this more in the days following, I wondered if they were Maitreya and the Master Jesus?

(Benjamin Creme’s Master confirmed that they were indeed Maitreya and the Master Jesus.)
For more than four years I have lived in a small village. On a special day in May 2002 after having finished gardening, I felt a wish to go to the garden gate at the street. When I looked at the front garden with its blooming tulips I heard a woman’s voice asking me something about the dryness of the soil. I got closer to the garden gate and there I saw an elderly lady and a tall, middle-aged man. I said how beautiful the blossoming nature was to me and that hopefully the powers of light would become more effective. Realizing and asking me at the same time, the lady said: “Are you religious?”
I felt slightly uncertain. And once again, “Are you religious?” Still I did not answer, just smiled. Then the question was repeated twice, in a low voice and insistently: “Are you religious?”
I felt joy within me, breathed a sigh of relief and said: “Yes, I am.” The woman talked with me about the Bible, religion, and my faith. The man, standing a bit at the side, did not say a word but smiled at me in a heartfelt way. He obviously had a skin disease on his face. Everything in the lady’s appearance looked particularly immaculate. It was clear to me that something special was happening, but I had no time to think about it.
When they were about to leave, I was asked, in a casual way: “Do you believe in the reappearance of the Christ?” I wanted to give a reply, but did not know how to so quickly. So I asked: “Aren’t you sure that he already is incarnate among us all the time?” Before they finally left they said that this had been a very lovely talk. After this conversation I felt happy and cheerful for a long time.
Could it be that the two visitors were Maitreya and Jesus?

On 16 November 2002, I went from Cologne to Munich to attend a Benjamin Creme lecture and meditation.
At about 9.15am I was sitting on a bench on a platform in the station, waiting for my train. While I was reading a tall man suddenly approached. He was about 30-35 years old and asked: “Excuse me, could you spare some change for a homeless person?”
During this short encounter I felt a stream of energy going through my entire body.
I will never forget this kind of feeling in my whole life. I gave him some money. He thanked me and then asked my neighbour for change. He did not ask anybody else. He made a U-turn behind me and disappeared.
Was he a Master?
T.L., Cologne, Germany.
(Benjamin Creme’s Master confirmed the ‘tall man’ was the Master Jesus.)
My younger daughter Mali (Amalia) reminded me recently about a situation when she was a child in the car with me. We were stationary in the road, waiting for an oncoming line of traffic to pass, so that we could turn right into a garden centre. Suddenly a yellow car came out from behind this line of traffic onto our side of the road and came towards us. The driver may have been frantically trying to stop his car, as it just skidded diagonally towards us at great speed.
Mali remembers being terrified and screaming, when, suddenly just a split second before the impact – it skidded round our car to my right, and the accident never happened. We both now wonder whether we were protected, or were we just amazingly, miraculously, lucky?
B. F., Frimley Green, Surrey, UK.
(Benjamin Creme’s Master confirmed that you were protected by Maitreya.)
On Tuesday 2 June 2001, our daughter Audrey was attacked outside the cinema by a young woman of Arab origin. As Audrey had scratches on her neck, we were advised to go to a clinic; it was around 9pm, we were alone in the emergency ward; my husband, my daughter and I were waiting for a doctor.
From outside, a young man came in, greeted us and went to open the lift door. Inside was an old lady; then another man came in too, wearing red and white sport trousers, and with his right arm in plaster. All three looked of Arab origin. The second man went towards the lift, started talking to the old lady in Arabic, and, turning towards us, asked me if I understood what he had just said. I answered no. Then he recited a poem or a prayer about God and asked me if there was one God or several Gods. I didn’t answer. Then he told me: “You are never alone, wherever you are, you are never alone.” He told me that sentence several times, then he talked to my suffering daughter and repeated the same thing: “You are never alone, wherever you are, you are never alone,” several times. Finally he asked me if I believed God was great and I answered: “Yes, God is great.”
Would it be possible to know who were those men we met at the clinic?
B. .F, Saint-Louis, France.
(Benjamin Creme’s Master confirmed the man who spoke was Maitreya, the ‘old woman’ was the Master Jesus. The other man was a disciple of the Master Jesus.)
2002 was rather a hard year for the family. Fortunately we had Maitreya’s ‘handprint’ which helped us several times with hardships.
We lost our beloved dog ‘Angelo’ on 5 December and this sudden loss brought the family a very deep sorrow. On that very day in the afternoon, our mother, who was in the kitchen, saw a sort of strange white “smoke” or “steam” floating in front of the Nordenau Water container. She reflexively dispelled it with her hands asking herself where it could come from… But the white ‘thing’ reappeared in a few seconds to her surprise! Late in the evening when my sister and I got home and heard from her about this peculiar incident, we thought immediately it could have been a healing sign from Maitreya or some Master.
Two weeks after that incident, our mother fell into a faint possibly due to excess anxiety and her physical condition. A few days later, she again saw that same white “thing” in the same place. This time she did not dispel it but thanked Maitreya for encouraging her.
Was the white “smoke” shown by Maitreya or some Master?
N.T., Kobuchizawa, Japan.
(Benjamin Creme’s Master confirmed that the smoke was manifested by Maitreya.)
Two letters from the same reader:
(1) On 21 March 2001, I, along with my friend, went to the top of a mountain in Sedona, Arizona, to see the sunrise. At the top of the mountain my friend pointed out a bedrock 10km or so apart from the summit and told me that it is a Space Brothers’ holy place and his friend often hikes there to meditate. On the way back from the summit, we saw something strange on the bedrock. At the side or edge of the top, there were four bright fluorescent orange lines. Each line seemed at least 7 to 10 feet long, and 1-foot wide. We suspected that it was sunlight reflection but we confirmed that the sunlight had not reached the bedrock yet. The next moment we were flabbergasted. The orange fluorescent colours changed to white. They changed from left to right, one after another as if somebody was pulling open the curtains of a window. Then, once again, the white colours changed to an ambient colour (the colour of the rock) in the same manner, right in front of our eyes. We had no other choice but to have a quick wild trek to the bedrock. We just had to investigate it. Well, we could not find anything there. My friend found three puddles of water, but we knew water could not change colour like that. At least not like somebody pulling open a curtain.
I would like to know if (1) these mysterious fluorescent lights were manifested by a Master or Space Brothers? If so, (2) I would like to know the purpose of the show for us.
(Benjamin Creme’s Master confirmed (1) The lights were manifested by the Space Brothers. (2) No specific purpose. You happened to be there.)
(2) On 30 November 2002 I held a successful Transmission Meditation workshop in a spiritual bookstore in Toronto, Canada. My timeframe for the workshop was between 2 and 4pm. The lecture before mine ended at 1.30pm and I started preparing for the workshop, which was basically putting a Transmission Meditation pamphlet and Emergence Quarterly on each chair. A few minutes after I started, a young man about 185cm (6’1") tall approached me and stood by me, watching what I was doing. I thought it was too early for any attendants to show up but his presence made me hurry. I smiled at him and said “Hi” while not stopping what I was doing. I saw he had transparent light blue eyes. He told me that he was interested in what I was up to. I quickly handed a pamphlet to him and told him that I was going to have a meditation workshop and he had come a little too early. He smiled and told me that he was not planning to attend, and took my pamphlet without even a glance at it, and then he left the bookstore. Since I was preoccupied with preparation and the workshop, I forgot about him almost immediately.
During the workshop, I was talking about not only Transmission Meditation but also Maitreya’s emergence to an attentive crowd even though it was not my original plan for the day. On the way back from the workshop, I recalled him, and kept thinking about only him. Out of 25 people I met at the workshop, he left me with a different impression from the others. His atmosphere, or energy, was totally transparent, as if he was not really there. I could not sense any bit of stress, curiosity, or expectation in him (such as a ordinary person might have). I felt it was also strange that he picked me out way before the lecture from nowhere, and left the bookstore immediately. Please tell me if this young man was Maitreya or another Master, or just a man who happened to be there.
T.A., Toronto, Canada.
(Benjamin Creme’s Master confirmed that the man was Maitreya.)
The “Signs of the time” presented in this section have either been confirmed in the past by Benjamin Creme’s Master, resemble similar signs also confirmed or speak for themselves. Many phenomena have been witnessed by people who see them as confirmation of their hopes and faith. We present them for your consideration.
“Increasingly, men are becoming aware that the ‘age of miracles’ has not ended but, on the contrary, waxes strong throughout the world. Recent manifestations have shaken to the core the complacent certainties of millions.... Miracles abound, and will continue to astonish; the forlorn hopes of so-called scientists and experts will prove of no avail to discount the evidence of men’s eyes. Turning their minds to the hope which these manifestations engender, men will connect them with the wise words of Maitreya, and follow His lead.” (A Master Speaks, November 1995)

Each year, as the Spring months approach, Hierarchy makes preparation for the three Spring Festivals of April, May and June. Every year, as the time draws near, plans are set in motion to enable those who seek the Light and wish to serve to do so more fully and more effectively. During this Spring We intend to make a major manifestation. Throughout these months, energies of enormous potency will flow outwards to the world. Their heightened power will facilitate certain rapprochements much needed today, and great efforts will be made to canalize the goodwill of millions. In this way it is hoped to effect great changes in human affairs, and to prevent a further slide into chaos and war.
This time of heightened activity We call a Spiritual Push, and during this period all spiritual activity will be potentized many-fold. Spiritual action of all kinds, stemming from whatever tradition or belief, will find enhancement during these months, and much can be achieved if full use is made of this opportunity. It behoves all those who desire to serve and to better the world to contact and use these forces and so make them manifest in their lives.
We seek to establish among men a new sense of shared responsibility. We seek to awaken in them a taste for concerted action. We endeavour to create the conditions in which these two can manifest together and thus lead to change. All is energy; energy alone exists. Through the impact of these higher energies on the Centre, humanity, We seek to engender a new atmosphere in the world. Help Us to create conditions of trust and so bring renewed hope to the world. Sow the seeds of love and trust and watch them blossom as hope and joy.
Everyone can do something to ease the pain of his brothers. Take stock of where you stand and see what you should do.
Pledge, now, your support for every act of sacrifice and contribute your share thereto. Make this time a time of giving; let your will to serve have full expression. Know that as you serve you work towards the Light and align more correctly with the purpose of your soul.
Take your stand with Us and allow the dreams of men to come true. Take your stand with Us and be assured of Our stimulus and help. Take your stand at Our side and perform deeds you thought impossible to achieve.
When you see Maitreya you will know that the moment of decision for the world has come. He will call for action from all who would save the world. Join the ranks of those who act and serve, and enter the mainstream of the Great Current of life. The time has come, as never before, to act in accordance with your professed ideals, and to make manifest the vision enshrined in your heart. Know that you are not alone; that millions embrace these same ideals. Join hands with all who seek to serve and spin a web of light around the world. Remember that you are in the world to serve and that only through service can you grow. Remember that you are your brother’s keeper and accept responsibility for your brother’s needs. Present yourselves, as never before, as channels through whom We may work, as transformers of the mighty potencies which will shortly flow to you.
In this way can you set the seal of service on this life and in due course join the ranks of those Who have gone before you. (A Master Speaks, March 1984)
We present a selection of quotations on the theme of ‘Human rights, truth and the rule of law’. The quotations are taken from Maitreya (Messages from Maitreya the Christ and Maitreya’s Teachings – The Laws of Life), Benjamin Creme’s Master (A Master Speaks and Share International), and Benjamin Creme’s writings.
There are many today who admit the necessity for change, but still resist it. There are many today who see the crumbling of the old and outworn world of the past, but cling to the old forms. But there is a new voice being heard among the nations: the voice of Truth, which contains the hope, the promise, of the New Time. This voice will increasingly make its impress on the minds of men, for it is the voice of God, speaking through men. (Maitreya, from Message No.12)
No longer are millions, erstwhile all but slaves, prepared to tolerate their lot; they rise against the tyranny which oppresses them and demand a better life.
Elsewhere, a new concern for honesty and the rule of law calls into question and condemns the corruption and laissez-faire of the recent past. A new sense of responsibility for others grips the conscience of many who seek to serve their brothers and sisters around the world….
Meanwhile, the old order crumbles, driven to the edge by its own extremes. Men are witnessing the collapse of the Empire of Greed, the tyranny of market forces, the freebooter’s heyday. From now on, the tendency in all affairs will be towards the Common Good. That which works for and upholds the Common Good will flourish; that which works against will wither away. Thus will the new forms and institutions fulfil the needs of all men. (Benjamin Creme’s Master, from ‘The Common Good’)
Are we ready to be true human beings, to share, to create the conditions in which every one, without exception, has the right to develop their potential, a spiritual potential in the deepest sense of that word: to make their life better on the physical plane, on the emotional, the mental, and the spiritual planes. To live out and manifest that for which they came into incarnation in the first place. It is largely our corrupt political, economic and social structures which prevent us from doing this. That needs a change of heart – and that, I believe, is taking place, otherwise He could not be here. (Benjamin Creme, Maitreya’s Mission Volume Three)
The time has come for money to be spent on the welfare of the nations. Every nation, every country, belongs to the people. “Those who divide God’s health and wealth in the name of ideology are themselves corrupt.” (Sep 1990) (Maitreya, Maitreya’s Teachings – The Laws of Life)
New Age politics – Politics the world over are undergoing rapid change. The politics of the New Age will be by the people, for the people. The United Nations will become a powerful instrument, and will provide the defence of weaker nations. (Maitreya, Maitreya’s Teachings – The Laws of Life)
He [Maitreya] will show men that the world belongs to everyone – rich and poor, powerful and dispossessed, white and coloured. He will make clear the need for concerted action to solve the problems which confront man today, and will point the way to their solution. Calling upon all men to accept the need for change, He will quicken the aspiration and focus the will of men everywhere to see justice done. Thus will He unite all those who seek the establishment of better forms through which the divinity of man can be expressed; and from that multitude will rise a cry unlike aught heard before on this Earth, a cry for justice and truth, freedom and peace. (Benjamin Creme’s Master, from ‘The future beckons’)
My arms are held towards you, My friends, asking for your trust, appealing for your help in remaking your world. Many are the tasks which lie ahead, many are the blows which must be struck for Freedom and Truth. I need all those in whom that truth shines to follow Me and help Me in My Work. May you be ready when you hear My Call. That Call will resound in the ears of men everywhere, throughout the world. It is a Call to God. (Maitreya, from Message No.26)
The United Nations is slowly coming into its own as the maintainer of peace in the world. At present, it is reluctant to accept the role of world policeman, and governments everywhere balk at the cost involved. But until world peace is assured through sharing and the implementation of justice, such a responsibility must be accepted. Its future role is to become, not a world government, but the world parliament, where problems can be discussed and resolved peacefully. (Benjamin Creme, Maitreya’s Mission Volume Three)
Many will see Me soon, will hearken to My words, and follow My lead. May you be among the first to do so, for in this way you can become My co-workers. My need for such is great. Many there are who share My hope for the restoration of our world. Seek them out and work with them. Build together a stronghold of Light and illumine the path for your brothers. Sit not still, but act, and restore the Time of Truth. (Maitreya, from Message No.33)
It is becoming increasingly clear that the conflict between Good and Evil is being won by the Forces of Light. Gradually the Good is gaining the upper hand in this age-old struggle for the minds and hearts of men. To some, this may seem an astonishing statement to make in the light of the tensions and cleavages which exist in the world. Yet such is the case, and were you to see the world and events as do We, the Elder Brothers, you would see a world undergoing an extraordinary transformation. On all sides there is evidence that the old order is crumbling. Ancient hatreds divide the peoples and lawlessness abounds, but everywhere there are signs that a new spirit is awakening in man, a new sense of responsibility and a renewed reverence for life in all its forms…
Groups of men are forming themselves on every hand to manifest the new. Inspired by love and the spirit of necessity they envisage a simpler and a saner world. They see that from the imbalances and tensions of the present must grow justice and harmony. They know that they are divine and can perform miracles of change. (Benjamin Creme’s Master, from ‘Victory is assured’)
Current political systems are losing power and credibility throughout the world, and will eventually give birth to new systems of government which will be much more representative. In the new era, the people themselves will come to the fore and be able to express all of their social, political, religious and educational needs. They will express themselves and their compassion through aid to others. Ordinary citizens, intellectuals, educators, and others from a variety of walks of life will find they have a genuine voice in government.
No politician on earth will now be able to repeat past history. The old politics of divide and rule are finished. The divisive art of politics has come to an end, and a new one that respects harmony will soon succeed. The new politics will no longer be moulded by the ‘isms’ of capitalism or socialism, but created from self-respect in individuals and nations.
The new politician will be an intellectual, an experienced person who knows the laws of evolution and will wisely guide his fellow beings. The process of inculcation, of imposition, by forcing ideologies into the minds of people, is beginning to dissolve, both in religious and in political fields. Consensus will replace it. The voice of the people is already beginning to be heard, and this representative form of government will replace control of the masses through ideology. Everything is moving so fast now that events are beyond the control of the politicians. A new political era has begun. Awareness awakens people to their basic human rights, their liberties and their responsibilities to themselves and each other.
The constitution of every nation will ultimately be based on the three principles of freedom, liberty and salvation. Freedom operates on the individual level, liberty operates on the national level, and salvation operates on the spiritual level. (From Maitreya’s Forecasts, Maitreya’s Mission Volume Two)
The powerful events – now daily happenings – throughout the world are awakening men’s realization that they are witnessing the death-throes of a dying culture, and, by implication, the creation of a new.
The form that the new culture might take remains, for the most part, vague and unsubstantial, but one factor has already registered itself in the minds of public and media alike: the growing strength of the people’s voice and the growing determination to make that voice be heard. This is the most important political event of our time. Throughout the world, the peoples of the nations are taking control of their destiny and demanding their rights. The inner call for freedom, intrinsic to their divinity, unites people of all races and creeds, and, in growing crescendo, will echo and re-echo until the last bastions of tyranny crumble and men can inherit their birthright. That is the future awaited by all men. (Benjamin Creme’s Master, from ‘The people’s voice’)
Forming themselves into groups, men of goodwill will brandish aloft their hopes and dreams of Justice and Peace. This clamour will light the torch of Truth among the nations, and at its centre shall I be found. Make way in your hearts for My Truth. Make way in your hearts for My Love. Manifest that Love around you and know the meaning of Life. Create thus the forms which will henceforth allow you to manifest as Gods. Do this with joy, My friends, and enter your heritage. (Maitreya, from Message No.135)
The reality of global interdependence will become an established fact in our awareness, and as it does so, the fact that ‘all men are brothers’ will be increasingly translated into structures and practical programmes of action that reflect this reality. Nations can and will experience brotherhood, common goals and common aspirations.
National governments will still be with us in the long term, but responsibility will increasingly be carried by the United Nations, which will become the most powerful political force in the world. It will be the agency through which all major international problems will be resolved. The United Nations will play a very effective role in making sure that arms and ammunition do not filter through and thereby aggravate conflicts. It will act as an observer and a watchdog. The UN is becoming a powerful centre and is no longer ‘just a name’. (From Maitreya’s Forecasts, Maitreya’s Mission Volume Two)
When a nation comes to adulthood, to maturity, it relates to other nations in a completely different way than hitherto. It begins to respect the Rule of Law, which binds all nations together in mutual responsibility and need. The sign of a growing maturity is precisely this respect for the laws which men have found necessary to living together in peace.
From time to time, a nation may feel powerful enough to ignore the law which irks its ambition to dominate, and to make war despite the warnings of restraint from its friends.
Thus it is today that the United States, now, alone, a ‘superpower’, vexes and worries the people of more mature nations who have grown to see the folly of unilateral action outside the Rule of Law.
The young and over-confident ‘superpower’, flexing its muscles, will overreach itself, and the sooner this happens the safer for the world....
When, among nations, the Rule of Law is ignored, the whole world suffers. Thus, today, the tension which has accompanied this futile demonstration of military strength affects millions, innocent of all terrorist action or mayhem. The world is struggling now with epidemics of all kinds as the human immune system breaks down under the stress. Did the warmongers but realize the karmic effects of their ill-considered actions, they might well make amends and take sightings for another course.
Maitreya, meanwhile, watches carefully this inharmonious situation, ready to intervene if necessary, ready to emerge when possible. Remember that Maitreya is in no doubt about the ultimate triumph of those who stand behind Him, who value peace and justice, freedom and love. He knows that these are the mainsprings of human existence and comes to see them enthroned in all. (Benjamin Creme’s Master, from ‘The ultimate triumph’, SI April 2004)
The first consideration is that the laws governing society should be fair and applicable to everyone. Without such basic justice and impartiality no one can be expected to observe the law. Frequently, today, there is “one law for the rich and another for the poor” – a certain recipe for social strife. A further need is for the laws to be known and understood and couched in language accessible to all. Too often are men held prisoner, and judged to be guilty of breaching laws long outmoded and known only to specialists.
The greatest need is for an ever closer identity of interest between the individual and society; only thus can the freedom of one and the stability of the other be preserved. How can this best be achieved?
The United Nations Organization has formulated a code of human rights which, if implemented, would go far to resolve the existing social tensions, and to provide the basis for a just and stable society. So far, this Universal Declaration of Human Rights remains but a dream for millions of dispossessed and disfranchised people in every country in the world. The aim must be to establish, with all possible speed, these basic rights in all nations.
With the acceptance of the principle of sharing this becomes possible. No longer need men fight for the right to work, to feed their families, for a measure of control over their destinies. At a stroke, the acceptance of sharing will heal the divisions, end the confrontations and cure the malady of the present situation, leading men out of the morass in which they have foundered. Make sharing then the goal of your endeavour. Show that the world now needs, more than ever in its history, the establishment of this just and basic principle, through the acceptance of which alone man will find and demonstrate his divinity. (Benjamin Creme’s Master, from ‘Human rights’, SI July 1984)
First published in 1949, George Orwell’s novel 1984 rose to number 6 on Amazon’s best-seller list in the United States in January 2017, prompting its publisher to print tens of thousands of additional copies.
“We’ve seen a big bump in sales,” publicity director at Penguin USA, Craig Burke, told the New York Times. The book has reached a 9,500 per cent increase in sales.” The spike in sales started just after President Donald Trump’s advisor, Kellyanne Conway, appeared on NBC’s Meet the Press on 22 January 2017, using “newspeak” reminiscent of Orwell’s language in the novel.
George Orwell warned in his novel, 1984, that a time would come when, “The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.”
In his piece “The post-truth era; Lies, damn lies and alternative facts” in The Chronicle-Journal (Canada), Dan Oldfield quotes from Orwell’s novel but comments wryly: “It took a little longer but it seems the post-truth era, a time where truth no longer matters, has arrived.” Oldfield goes on to ask: “So who loses and who wins when the news media is undermined and discredited?”
He writes: “Attempting to discredit journalists has been going on for a while, even before the arrival of Donald Trump and his right wing posse but it has now become something that would shock even Orwell. Claims of media bias are thrown around like some sort of fundamental truth without even a token attempt to justify or support them. Overt lies are now ‘alternative facts’ — as though there are facts and then there is something else as good or better. There are even claims that opinion, no matter how misguided or uninformed, is just as valid as facts. It is nonsense. Dangerous nonsense.”
At the risk of stating the obvious, discrediting the media is a ploy to change, deny or obscure the truth. “People are being actively encouraged to reject any facts or evident truth that challenges their preconceived beliefs,” as Oldfield puts it. He goes on to call attention to how a former US president valued the role of the media: “More than 50 years ago, when television was in its infancy, US president John F.Kennedy noted that…. ‘Without debate, without criticism, no administration and no country can succeed – and no republic can survive.’ He further declared the role of the press is ‘to inform, to arouse, to reflect, to state our dangers and our opportunities, to indicate our crises and our choices, to lead, mould, educate and sometimes even anger public opinion.’”
Oldfield cites Dan Rather, former CBS News anchor: “Facts and the truth are not partisan. They are the bedrock of our democracy.” (Source: chroniclejournal.com)
“When man accepts, in fact and in deed, that humanity is one, that men are brothers, one of another, all things can safely become his. His birthright awaits him. So must men show that they are ready for peace, ready to enter the future together without bloodshed or competition. They must be glad to share and work in harmony for the good of all. When men, of themselves, come to that awareness, they will call on Maitreya (by whatever name) to show them the way, to guide them out of the morass, and to lead them into the era of peace.” (Benjamin Creme’s Master, from ‘Man’s birthright awaits him’)
In the summer of 2015 Canadian businessman Jim Estill got so frustrated watching the terrible Syrian refugee crisis unfolding, that he decided to take action himself and paid for an Ontario town’s resettlement of over 200 refugees. Estill, a business executive, living in the southwestern Ontario town of Guelph, said: “I didn’t think people were doing enough things fast enough.”
So he devised a plan using his own money to bring over refugee families to Canada, and co-ordinate a community-wide effort to re-settle them into their new life. It was to be a volunteer-driven project, but organized like a business, with multiple teams, each in charge of a different aspect of settling newcomers.
The 59-year-old estimated that it would cost Canadian $30,000 to support a family of five in Guelph, and that he could support about 50 families. He explained: “I didn’t think that was a big deal. Guelph is 120,000 in population, and 50 families is maybe 250 or 300 people. That’s a blip, that’s nothing.” He called a meeting with several of the city’s religious and aid organizations in September 2015, all of whom signed up to his ambitious plan.
In November 2015, a local paper published an article about the plan. It was translated into Arabic and spread around the Middle East. Estill recalls: “At first you get one email. You get one or two and say: ‘Let’s see what I can do.’ Then it turns into a hundred. And then it’s very difficult.” Fift-eight families were eventually selected. Estill said the worst part was choosing who would come to Canada, amid the millions who have been displaced: “Basically you’re playing God. You’re choosing who lives and who dies and who comes and who doesn’t,” he said.
The sponsored families arrived in a trickle because of long delays in government processing, and the hard-to-find housing sat empty, and donations languished in warehouses. He said: “I was completely taken by surprise it would take so long for the Canadian government to let people in. That cost us a lot.”
By December 2016, 47 of 58 families had arrived in Guelph. A full-scale operation, staffed by volunteers and supported by donations, offers the refugees everything from job training to English-language classes. Each family is paired with an Arabic and English-speaking mentor, who aids them in tasks that range from riding the city bus to setting up a bank account.
“It’s been quite amazing,” said Sara Sayyed, who with her husband, Muhammed Sayyed, of the Muslim Society of Guelph, have helped Estill oversee the settlement of the families. “Everybody has gotten involved, from the municipal government to all the different organizations that are out there. We’ve got people from all walks of life, volunteering everything from their time to their services to donating things.”
Estill and his wife have had a steady stream of newly arrived families in their home, and he often spends evenings visiting the homes of newcomers. New rental housing has been financed and an office building converted into residences as he works to increase the city’s supply of rental homes. At Danby, he established a programme that offers the refugees three months of work experience to get them on their feet, allowing them a flexible schedule to accommodate job interviews and the twice-weekly in-house English-language classes.
When praise is given for his efforts Estill says he simply had the means to help and a vision of how to implement the plan. “I still don’t see what the big deal is. And I’m surprised more people don’t step up and do it. I didn’t want to grow old and say I stood by and did nothing. So I decided to do my small part.”

The world refugee problem has found a focus in public reaction to a new (February 2017) UK parliamentary ruling to end the recent ‘Dubs amendment’: an agreement to allow into the country 3,000 child refugees.
Alfred Dubs, now a member of the UK House of Lords, was brought to Britain under the ‘kindertransport’ scheme in 1939, which enabled thousands of children to flee Nazi Germany – without their parents. Like many of those children, Lord Dubs flourished and eventually became a Labour peer. In memory of this time and in gratitude to the British government, he brought forward legislation in Parliament to bring to the UK children who were left alone after the breakup of the makeshift refugee camp in Calais, France, from where many had taken desperate measures to reach the UK. Lord Dubs’ ‘amendment’ had enormous support both in Parliament and throughout the UK. As elsewhere in the world, the refugee crisis has drawn on and inspired the people’s compassion and altruism.
Quite unexpectedly, and rather quietly, the UK government made it known that, having allowed in 350 children, for whom private homes have been found, it was now abandoning the scheme. This went against the previous vote in Parliament and it has provoked a public outcry, including from members of the Conservative government’s own party and the Archbishop of Canterbury, the head of the Church of England. The voice of the people is making itself heard.
Lord Dubs himself has strongly criticized this new decision. On 11 February, he delivered to the Prime Minister’s home a petition signed by around 50,000 people. “If it’s not impossible, there must be a way,” he said. “The Secretary of State’s announcement is a very bad letdown for some very vulnerable children in France, Greece and Italy. I was shocked and in disbelief, I couldn’t believe the government could back off in quite that way.”
A High Court challenge to close the Dubs scheme has been brought by the charity Help Refugees and is likely to be heard in May. For some of those children that will not be soon enough. Lord Dubs said: “We want the government to change their minds. The government have said they don’t want to take more than 350 in total under the amendment. I think that’s a very shabby cop-out. I believe that there are thousands of unaccompanied child refugees suffering greatly in Greece, Italy and some in France. The government has said no more and I think that is an abdication of their responsibilities, it goes against public opinion and it goes against parliamentary opinion.”
And the Archbishop of Canterbury has written: To our government we say: “Think again. Honour your best instincts”. (Source: The Guardian, The Observer, UK)
On 3 February 2017, hundreds of people throughout Canada gathered around local mosques to form human shields or ‘rings of peace’. The protective barriers were formed as Muslims marked their first Friday prayers since six Muslims were shot dead praying at a Quebec mosque on 29 January 2017. Rabbi Yael Splansky, who set up the ‘rings of peace’ around Toronto mosques, said: “No Canadian should be afraid to go to their house of worship to pray. It’s a terrifying scene. Imagine people of faith going to pray in peace, to pray for peace, and to be at risk. Houses of worship are sacred and must be protected.”
The protectors came from all faiths including local synagogues, churches and temples and stood shoulder-to-shoulder outside seven of the city’s mosques. In Ottawa, Edmonton, and Newfoundland, similar ‘rings of peace’ were set up around mosques. Outside Newfoundland’s St John’s mosque where hundreds gathered, Syed Pirzada of the Muslim Association of Newfoundland and Labrador said his community had been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support they had received in recent days: “Although this tragedy has taken irreparable toll on Muslims across the country, the kindness and generosity of fellow Canadians has been a great source of comfort. Canada has spoken: no to hate, no to bigotry, no to religious violence, no to intolerance.” (Source: The Guardian, UK)
Jewish community share their temple
After the Islamic Centre in Victoria, Texas, USA, was burnt down on 28 January 2017, the Jewish community in the small town came to the help of the Muslim population by letting them share their synagogue until the mosque was rebuilt.
Shahid Hashmi, one of the Mosque’s founders, said: “Jewish community members walked into my home and gave me a key to the synagogue.” President of the Temple Bnai Israel, Robert Loeb, said: “Everyone knows everybody, I know several members of the mosque, and we felt for them. When a calamity like this happens, we have to stand together. We have probably 25 to 30 Jewish people in Victoria, and they probably have 100 Muslims. We got a lot of building for a small amount of Jews.”
The fire in the Muslim centre, which was built in 2000, was discovered at 2am and took about four hours to bring under control. It took place just hours after President Donald Trump announced he would ban citizens from seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the US, and halted the country’s refugee programme for 120 days. The cause of the fire is being investigated by federal officials.
Donations and an online fundraising campaign have raised more than $900,000 for the mosque’s reconstruction. Omar Rachid, who created the GoFundMe campaign, said: “Our hearts are filled with gratitude for the tremendous support we’ve received. The outpouring of love, kind words, hugs, helping hands and the financial contributions are examples of the true American spirit.” (Source: The Independent, UK)
